iPhone continually asks for password to yahoo account

Several times each day my iPhone 5s, running iOS 8.2, asks for the password for my Yahoo account.

When I enter my password, it proceeds with the task I was doing, which is seldom related to YAHOO at all.  The fact that it doesn't ask  for the password again immediately, indicates that it has accepted / confirmed the password.

I go to this password entry process at least half a dozen times a day. It is annoying, especially since I don't check my yahoo mail on this phone.

I have removed the entire yahoo account and reinstalled it. I have reduce the number of features tied to that yahoo account and settings under mail, contacts and calendars.

Other than just entirely removing that account from this phone, I don't know what my options are. I suppose I could install the yahoo app and delete from my phone the account all together.

Any insight on why this is happening, and/or what I can do to stop it? Anything to stop these incessant password queries that are a constant distraction.

Thank you.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Try this:

Go to Settings.
Go to Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
Go to Fetch New Data.
Go to the Yahoo email account option.
Select 'Manually' option.

If that doesn't work try deleting the Yahoo email account from the iPhone.  Go to Yahoo's website and reset the password.  Add the Yahoo email account again with the new password.

Let me know if that works or not.

Sorry for the delay, but I'm testing it out now. And thanks for offering a solution. I sure hope it works.

The iphone stopped asking for it. Also I had to go and create a per application password in yahoo online. Yahoo has since changed all of their password systems anyway. So it's a moot point. Thanks though for your input.
