DIY data center backup

Hi Experts,

I am looking into setting up offsite backup to a data center for a small business.  The client has about 450GB worth of data.

Using cloud backup like dropbox, etc isnt an option as there is too much data to upload.  Using 3rd party backup providers that provider seeding can be expensive and the client would prefer to have full control of this process.

I was considering renting 1RU in a datacentre and putting in a NAS.  Then using shadow protect to backup incremental changes to the NAS in the datacentre.  This would also allow me to seed to the NAS prior to remote backing up.

I'm aware of the costs of renting the rack space, shadow protect and the NAS but wondering what experts think of doing this?  Is there a preferred (not too expensive) NAS.  I've been looking and QNAP and Synology.

What are your thoughts on this Experts?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

For one of my clients, they have a QNAP which they image their data files to daily.
I have a QNAP at my office.
Each night we use Rsync to backup the changes to the QNAP in my office.
I keep my eye on the backups to make sure they are happening and charge my client a monthly fee for the service.
