I am looking into setting up offsite backup to a data center for a small business. The client has about 450GB worth of data.
Using cloud backup like dropbox, etc isnt an option as there is too much data to upload. Using 3rd party backup providers that provider seeding can be expensive and the client would prefer to have full control of this process.
I was considering renting 1RU in a datacentre and putting in a NAS. Then using shadow protect to backup incremental changes to the NAS in the datacentre. This would also allow me to seed to the NAS prior to remote backing up.
I'm aware of the costs of renting the rack space, shadow protect and the NAS but wondering what experts think of doing this? Is there a preferred (not too expensive) NAS. I've been looking and QNAP and Synology.
