I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You can only purchase the most recent version of Exchange which is 2013 (as of right now). You could then downgrade and install Exchange 2010 if you choose to.

Depending on when the release of the newest product would determine what verison i would choose. Typically if the product has been out less than a year i would install the version prior to this or just wait until the lastest version is more stable.

Exchange 2013 pros
- life cycle (patches/updates new features) will be supported longer due to the length of time being out
- new capabilities/features
- Exchange 2013 has simplified a lot of tasks in Exchange 2013 like the DAG setup/configuration
- role architecture is more simplified

Exchange 2013 Cons
- only been out for a short time
- they are still working out bugs
- learning curve (completely new design for the GUI interface EAC)

Personally If i were you, to get your money's worth, i would wait until Exchange 2016 comes out and then purchase Exchange at that point. Then install Exchange 2013. Then when Exchange 2016 has been tested and is stable you can easily upgrade to Exchange 2016.

That is what i would recommend.

This way you are not paying for the lastest Exchange down the road.
