Hello Experts,
I have been asked to make changes to SQL Server DTS Package.  I don't have the SQL Server 2000 any more.  But I do have SQL Server 2008 R2.  I was able to import the package and able to see it under Data Transmission Services, under Legacy.  But when I try to open the package, I am getting this error (see the attachment).  Please let me know what causing this error and how to fix it.

Thank you in advance.

Hi,

>> Install SQL Server 2000 DTS Designer Components, Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Backward Compatibility Components From Below Link

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=536fd7d5-013f-49bc-9fc7-77dede4bb075&displaylang=en

Then

>> In the Environment variable's Path Move "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL
Server\80\Tools\Binn\" Before SQL2008 Paths.

Hope this would help you

Just to 'check the box', SQL Server stopped fully supporting DTS in 2005, which is about four versions ago (2008, 2008R2, 2012, 2014).  Because of this, and because ETL technology has greatly improved since DTS, please consider rewriting your DTS packages in a newer technology such as SSIS.
