Networking virtual machines on Windows 8.1 hyperv
I have enabled hyperv on a windows 8.1 pro machine.
This is a Home situation where I don't have a public ip address.
with little networking knowledge I am having trouble accessing one of the virtual machines . below is my scenario
Win 8.1 with hyperv
Windows 2012 server as a virtual server on this win 8 machine
I can access the Windows 2012 server using HyperV Manager on the windows 8 - ( right click and select connect ). But what I want to do is to access the Windows 2012 server from another PC on the home network.
I am under a single router.
Any help is appreciated.

enabled remote and setup static ip instead of dynamic - i still cannot ping from the host
don't know if i ve done the static ip setting correctly - but i set the static ip to the one that it originally received dynamically and set the default gateway to the default gateway I get for the host ( from ipconfig )

Hi Predrag Jovic
on top of the reply I posted above - I managed to remote in from both Host and another PC connected to the same router - by switching off the Public profile of the Firewall,
I dont want to have that switched off.
can anyone advise ?
My host PC is a windows 8.1 pro and does not belong to a domain. How can I be able to remote to this virtual server without having to switch off the firewall ?

Did you enable remote desktop access on Server 2012?
If you enabled remote access on server and added user permission to join - just enter IP address of server to Remote desktop connection.
In the case you want join that host to domain - set on host primary ip dns server - ip address of your server, or configure DHCP server to do that.
