Perc 6 RAID Controller for a PowerEdge 1800

I've got an old PowerEdge 1800 server currently running a CERC 1.5 Sata card and it is unbearably slow. I was wondering if I could put a T954J Dell PERC 6/i 256MB SAS/SATA RAID Controller in it. I have spent alot of time looking at compatibility lists, but cant find the 1800 listed.

The PowerEdge 1900 is compatible, so I thought maybe it would work in the 1800 as well. Not sure though.

Thanks

While it "may" work in the 1800's lone x8 slot, keep in mind that it is not supported and never intended for use in that server. Also know that the 1800 uses PCI-e 1.1 and the card is capable of 2.0; it will negotiate a compatible speed, but it will be half of what you might expect right off the top.

The 1800 and 1900 are far too different to assume that what will work in one will work in the other - different bus type, processor class, memory architecture, etc.

Thank you. I ended up buying a new server.
