A slight correction to arober11's response above: it is true that you can open vsdx files with Visio 2010, but you need the <a href="https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=39640" rel="ugc">Visio Compatibility Pack</a> to do so. BTW, if you don't have Visio yet and are buying a copy, I would strongly recommend Visio 2010 over Visio 2007. The feature set is a huge step forward -- the biggest set of improvement and new features in at least 10 years -- and it's much easier to use.
