dfs problem

We have a SQL app that references a dfs path to store and access JPGs. The data is replicated between 2 2008 R2 servers, when the DFS ordering is set to over ride the order and prefer server 2, or using the unc path to either server, all works fine. When the over ride setting is not configured, or favors server 1, invalid path or filename errors occur. DFS seems to be working otherwise, replication is fine and other files can be accessed, There are a large number of files in the folders having the issue, close to 2 million pictures, not sure if that has anything to do with it, any ideas? Thanks.

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

it sounds like the issue is on server 2 (I assume that is a DC)
when you said override settings, do you mean the name server override by site, cost or etc?
what if you disable the target path of server 1?
are you able to access to server 2 with DFS path?

are you able to access your DCs by using IPs?
