datatables.net, add value when adding new record using Editor

I am using datatables.net with the Editor, using PHP and MySQL.

After selecting a customer on the customerSearch page, the user is brought to another page customerDetail.php?id=3 (where the id is the customer id).  On customerDetail I have a data table that shows appointments for that customer.  It is filtering correctly so it is only showing appointments for customerID=3.  However, when the user adds a new record, the CustomerID is null.  I need the CustomerID field in this new record to automatically be populated with the CustomerID (3 in this example).  How do I do this? I can't find any examples on their website.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You need a mechanism to store your customer Id in one of this and retrieve it in customerDetail page.

1. Query String  --> $_REQUEST['customerID']
2. Post Value --> $_POST['customerID'];
3. Session --> $_SESSION['customerID']

Hope this helps you

actually I finally got the correct syntax:

            Field::inst( 'Appointments.CustomerID' )
                        ->setValue($customerID),
