Run MSinfo32.exe. The model number is contained in the system summary (first tab on the left).

The service number tag and the serial number will not show up in MSinfo32.exe.

Having found the model number, did you find the service tag in the BIOS?

Do you have the purchase receipt for the computer?
rindiCommented:
As I already mentioned, it should be shown in the BIOS.

Shut the computer down. start it up and press F1 at startup to get into the BIOS. If you miss this, it may say on the screen "Press Enter to get into BIOS".  F1 should work.

On some Dell's it can also be F2. The manual should tell you which key to use to get into the BIOS.
