Windows Server 2012 R2 Email Ability

Does Windows Server 2012 come with any exchange server, or an SMTP / Pop3 server for mail hosting?  And how does it compare to the native SMTP / Pop3 servers on Windows 2003 R2? What do you suggest?

I tried setting up the Exchange Server on Windows 2003 but had endless problems of having to install other software that either did not work or caused problem so this is one reason I'm upgrading.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.
