minute by minute deletes on SQL instance.

the programmer has written that unneeded data to be removed/cleanup every minute through programmed script.

is this a not-best for log management? (if deletes are big, logs can swell?). this is for the session state database. pl suggest best practice.

For starters, TRUNCATE TABLE is minimally logged, and can be used as an alternative to DELETE if the entire contents of the table are being deleted.

I'd ask the programmer to spell out his reasons, as determining 'unneeded data' every minute is playing with fire..   I can understand this if there's a wompload of temp tables, staging tables, etc. in a database that are one-time uses.

it is for the http://tecadmin.net/how-to-create-aspstate-database-in-sql-server/ database.. just holds session info.. sometimes it gets too full too soon with many connections, and hence the programmer suggests deleting every minute. there are only 2 tables in this database, and actually deletes happen only on one table.

what would you recommend as best strategy for such a database? (very busy transaction)
