Getting emails while account is disabled

Can users still get emails to their inbox when their AD account has been disabled ( not deleted )?

An example would be. A user leaves the company, and their AD account gets disabled, but their inbox wasn't deleted. When users email that disabled account, will they get an error saying that email address isn't there or will it go into that disabled user's inbox still?

The answer is yes. The mailbox will continue to receive email when the AD user account is disabled. The only way it will not receive email is if you have a transport rule that is dropping messages to this mailbox. Or if your ProhibitSendAndRecieve is Above its limit.

Simply disabling an AD account that has a mailbox still allows mail flow.

Disable AD means user cannot open the mailbox or login to domain, however mailbox is still working, that way shared mailbox works, shared mailbox also AD account is disabled.
