We had an issue with a Dell Perc S200 raid controller which caused the raid array to fail. We have managed to recover the partitions and put on the the disk. When booting we get a blinking cursor on a blank screen. We have gone into the recover console and run
bootrec /fixmbr, then bootrec /fixboot, bootrec /rebuildbcd. This is all successful but it still does the same.
We then did a bcdedit c:\windows to point to the os - again the same.
Lasting we went into X:\sources\recovery\startuprep. But still the same issue.
Any suggestions on next steps?

We have been working on this for the past 24 hours and need to get it up and working asap. So quick responses would be appreciated.
Hi
The first article we had already tried all of it.
the second we had run a startrep. I have just run an sfc as per the article and a chkdisk and both these have run clean as well.
Can you confirm at this point if the problem is with the MBR or is it with RAID card? If this much time has gone by, I would throw the recovered partition into a VM or even better if you have previous day backup image of the whole server.
We run multiple VMs and if any server goes down we can simply swap VM or if physical then P2V and up running within a few hours. Is this something you can do as well?

Have you a Windows 7 boot DVD? Use it to boot the server and use the StartRep function from within that and it should repair this issue - I've used that before to fix a 2008 blinking cursor issue, StartRep from the recovery console of 2008 wasn't doing the job but the Win7 version did work...give it a shot and see
Thanks,
Valerie.
