Thoughts on second backup, P2V.

I'm looking for a second backup option for an application server.  It runs one app with a DB back-end.  This is a physical box running Server 2008 R2.

We currently utilize StorageCraft as backup for this device.  We have the ability to use virtual boot and head start restore.  This is working great, I just want a second backup.

I'm thinking of something simple like VMware converter scheduled to run each night to an ESX host located at the far end of our facility.

Thoughts?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

I use Acronis to protect my work environment.  Acronis ABR 11.5 to be exact.  You can easily P2V the image.

I don't know how I feel about running two backup programs on the server.  I feel like VMware converter is less of a backup program and more of a utility and wouldn't fight with StorageCraft.

VMware Converter can be used, but it cannot be scheduled easy, without additional work.
