Adding SSL support to Apache2 on Windows server 2008 R2

Hello Experts,

I have an Apache2 2.2 web server installed on a Windows 2008 R2 Server and want to add SSL support for encryption.

Can anyone give me detailed instructions on how best to achieve that ?.

The best instructions are available in the Apache docs.  Be sure to look at the how-to section for simple examples, and a quick glance through the detailed mod_ssl documentation would certainly not hurt.

Generally, you need to set up a VirtualHost container for the server, and use the SSLEngine, SSLCertificateFile, and SSLCertificateKeyFile directives to get things set up.  Depending on the complexity of your installation, you may need additional configurations.  I suggest you start with the basics, and come back with more specific questions if you hit a roadblock.

Above all, remember that you need a valid certificate for this to work, and you'll need to restart the Apache service when you change the configuration.
