Alternate method instead of using netlink in ESXi 6.0

Hi Experts,

We are porting one of our Linux driver to ESXi6.0. Our Linux driver supports netlink and genetlink related code,
But we are facing some issues while porting Linux driver to ESXi6.0. It seems netlink and genetlink not supporting by ESXi6.0.
Is that correct?. If these are not supported by esxi6.0, then is there any equivalent method supporting by esxi6.0?

Rakesh

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Hi Rakesh,

you will have a hard time finding anyone with this specific knowledge.

Vendors that develop ESXi drivers for their hardware normally have access to the official VMware developer's documentation after becoming a "Technology Alliance Partner (TAP)" of VMware. There is an "I/O Vendor Program" inside there, and you can apply here:
http://www.vmware.com/partners/tap-access/vmware-ready/platform-compute.html

Of course, this costs some money ... If you don't want to spend that then you can try to use the information that others have gained through trial-and-error. The best sources that I know of are these:

ESXI 5.x Drivers Part 1: Making a Build Environment
ESXI 5.x Drivers Part 2: Preparing to compile
ESXI 5.x Drivers Part 3: Compiling
ESXI 5.x Drivers Part 4: Finishing the compilation
