join a workstation to domain using RODC

Hello to all of you ,
could you please tell me if this is the only way to join a PC to a domain using a RODC ?
https://jorgequestforknowledge.wordpress.com/2009/01/01/domain-join-through-an-rodc-instead-of-an-rwdc/

Do I really need to create first the computer in ADUC on A RWDC ?
Could you please drive me on this . the server installation went fine .

Thank you

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Or, you can specify a RWDC in your DJoin command line, with this switch: /dcname <domain controller name>
