When I attempt to use putty to SSH into a Linux instance running on virtual box I get “network error : connection timed out” The second time I try it works fine

When I attempt to use putty to SSH into a Linux instance running on virtual box I get “network error : connection timed out”
The second time I try it works fine

Also when I RDP to a windows box running on ESXI 5.5 on a local server here , I get “ Remote Desktop cant’connect…..”

The second time it works fine

correction on this : both of the instaces the Linux and Windows are on VMWARE not virtual box , they are a vmware server here in our building

so check the same kind of settings in vmware ?

where is that??

Do you have firewalls enabled in the VMs ?

Can you ping the systems? Checked firewalls? Anything?

no , the windows boxes have the firewalls turned off the linux stuff does not have anything I know running on it that would be considered a firewall

a ubuntu 14.04 with ssh server and docker and docker swarm running

Is remote desktop enabled on the windows server?
With Linux you can sometimes connect on ssh?

yes I can get in I just have to try 2 times

I can also get into the linux but have to try 2 times
