I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Looks to fix some pretty big issues, especially the AppPool crashes.
Have not applied, but will roadmap it for this quarter 2015...

Yes and yes.

If you need to call into MS for support they work on an n-1 support system.  Meaning you have to be on the latest or next to latest to receive full support.

You best bet would be to test this install in a lab environment for a period of time and then move to production.

Not sure I agree with the above statement. i have had clients contact support where they have been out even a full server pack release, this does not mean they will NOT support you. They might state that you should upgrade but they will still provide support.

Will,

Thanks for the reply. All my labs are with 2013 and I am bit lazy to go back with 2010. Yes , I usually apply rollups in our labs before going in production.

One of my friend's office, they are on exchange 2010 SP3 Rollup 7. A couple of days back, they started to receive event id 4999 and as per MS, they need to apply rollup 10. The released date of it falls on last month (which is a short period for me to trust it completely) and he is in kind of uncertainty, as he had a bad experiences with previous rollups.

So I thought someone might have applied it and hopefully runs with no issues.

For something like this what I do is read the "release notes" for the new RU, service pack etc. If there are issues that I am currently experiencing and the RU or SP corrects the issue, then I will apply these when the come out (after testing of course). If they do not correct anything I am currently experiencing I will hold off applying the latest RU for a couple of months after it has been successfully by the companies in production environments.

Will, you can not agree with my statement...that is your choice. But from April 2014 to June of this year I was  Tier 3 Exchange Escalation Engineer for Microsoft, so I think my statement is probably correct.

You will get support, what I said was FULL support.  That means that if an issues needs to go to the code readers or Product group, they won't even look at the case unless you are at n-1.

I asked my friend to setup a virtual lab, which he did so last week and he has applied the RU10. In a couple of weeks time or more, he would apply it in production. The event id 4999 has been resolved with RU10 in the virtual lab.
