The path is too long- when trying to delete on windows 8.1

Hello experts,

when I tried to delete my created yeoman app, the windows said that the path is too long...I solved it by subst :j inside of that folder, so I map a drive of this folder and then it was deleated without problem.

But I'm wondering how do you do it? Node_modules folder has tens of thousands files, it's little bit crazy but I couldn't imagine doing frontend without yeoman now.

First, I go out of my way not to let this happen - and it doesn't on my machines.

Second, try using cmd.exe and putting filename in quotes. That usually works for me.

The old, standard, method is to create a network share far enough down the tree to get past the 255 character limit, access that by the share name, then backup and/or delete the tree.  Afterwards, unshare the folder.

make an empty directory--then robocopy it to the directory you wish to delete, empty out first, then delete--run all these from a command prompt or in a batch
md c:\empty_dir
robocopy c:\empty_dir c:\the_dir_to_delete /s /mir
rd c:\empty_dir
rd c:\the_dir_to_delete

I use http://www.purgeie.com/delinv/scrndeli.htm which would solve all path problems. It used to be free but is a limited trial now and costs 20 USD. Good software.
