I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Yeah, just only put the packages on the CAS distribution point only.

Are the primary site servers at different sites? you would be missing out on the saved bandwidth if that is the case.

Hi,

Microsoft strongly recommends against using a CAS unless you exceed 100,000 machines. It over complicates things, is expensive (you have another box) and only 6 companies in the world *need* it, including MS themselves. Having a CAS is an extreme "use case". If you want to delegate control then use Roles and AD Groups.

Are you using 2012 or 2007?

HI, Sorry..for the delay...We are using 2012.
Our customer is asking us to use CAS as it wil have primary server and it can be added at any time.

Hi,

What do they want to add multiple primary sites then? I keep asking because the CAS is an administrative overhead, designed for huge enterprise scale infrastructures.

Please read this article, as it explains better than I could:

Your customer will thank you if you can explain this and save them money.

The overhead is not so much network as time, hardware,  and housekeeping on an additional server that is not required except in the cases David Baur states.
