Exchange 2007 decomission

What is the proper step wise process to decommission Exchange 2007 after 2013 upgrade. I have left the 2007 in  a shut down state and I have not seen any issues apart from Send connector which I fixed as soon as problem surface after shutdown. Now it has been more than two and I bringing it up today for un-installation .
I might have to delete the disconnected mailbox that still exists in 2007. Is there a pshell command to delete disconnected boxes. Also, it is save to remove the exchange 2007 mail database that shows on new ECP?

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You can delete the disconnect mailbox via GUI. On Exchange 2007 mailbox databases, set the mailbox database - "Keep Deleted mailbox for (days):, change to 0 days.

Also you have powershell to delete it

$DisMbx = Get-MailboxStatistics | where-object { $_.DisconnectDate -ne $null } | Select DisplayName,MailboxGuid

$DisMbx | ForEach { Remove-Mailbox -Database "Mailbox Database" -StoreMailboxIdentity $_.MailboxGuid -confirm:$false }

Open in new window

Once done, dismounted the Exchange 2007 Mailbox database, verify if user does encountered any issue. If everthing fine, then delete it.
