powerpvt vs powerQry

Hello All,

What is the basic difference between PowerPivot and power query – I am pulling data from multiple sources (huge csv files and other formats) and then i  would need to join them and then manipulating them and putting them in one sheet of excel.  Which one will be better in this case? Power pivot or power query

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Power Query - Connect to every friggin' data source under the sun.  Warning:  The data is saved in Excel, so querying large data sets can result in large Excel files.
Power Pivot -  Build a data model with above data sets, then display a UI in a cosmetically pleasing manner, to include creating calculated fields, custom values (key performance indicators) that allows users to click buttons and watch the resulting data set change.

In what form? If it's not a pivot table, you're probably better off with PQ.

^^^  Along these lines, it might not be a bad idea for you to paint us a picture of what exactly your business needs are, and how large these files are, as there are other solutions that may be more ideal.
