Symantec Endpoint Protection v 12.1.5

We need to change the ip address of the Symantec endpoint protection management server version 12.1.5.  Everything is on this server. What is the recommended procedure?  Would changing the ip address on the server nic break communication with the clients?

There are two methods. How many SEP clients in your location?

Suggest you add a new management server list with new IP address and use that on all the groups.

To share SEP clients contact the SEPM using the IP address. As long as client can contact the server on the installation port and new IP address of the server, I do not see any impact to such changes.

However, the clients will find the management server from their own management server list configured. This done by default during the installation of SEPM with that listing, you can verify to update it as well.

But I see that having it timely updated in each clients (e.g. connected or not connected or offline or online) can be challenging, so better to create a new server list with only the name of the management server then it forces the clients to resolve the IP address of the server like the normal DNS or NetBIOS scheme. Regardless, adding IP can still works as stated earlier
