Use MVM to P2V a 2008r2 Domain Controller

I recently read a step-by-step how to on using MVM to P2V. I have a single domain controller that I need to Virtualize. Is the MVM a safe method? What should I look out for? SCVMM is not an option and I do not have the luxury of a temp DC

I've never heard of MVM.. but are you converting to Hyper-V or Vmware?  Both makers have their own, free P2V utilities that work very well.

Because you only have one DC in your environment and there are no other replicaiton partners you should be fine to P2V the DC however, you need to make sure that ALL AD Services are stopped and also DNS services as well.

You do not want any changes happening during the process of the P2V. This is going to theoretically be an "offline" P2V. So this will disrupt the business, so doing something like this after hours would be recommended.
