Any way to set Google Calendar reminders beyond four weeks prior?

Posted this a couple of years ago, wanting to see if something has improved.  I use Google Calendar under Thunderbird / Lightning and need to set reminders at 3,4,5 and 6 months prior to the calendar entry.  A Google search does not turn up any hanks or add-ons to extend the four month maximum.  So I would welcome anything that will, or recommendation for a totally different calendar solution.  The solution has to be workable for Windows / Android / iOS systems.  I do not use Outlook for anything.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Why not use Outlook?  It will go way beyond your stated minimum.  It is a workable solution for Windows, Android and iOS.

I really prefer TBird for email client.  Got away from Outlook years ago.  And having calendar function on one system, email on another, sounds clunky.

BTW: I just tried Todoit, and it was nothing like I expected.  Only works through browser, and I couldn't see how to set a custom reminder time beyond what they have canned.  My business is patent law, so I need long reminders and a lot of flexibility.  Plus their "support" blog was full of complaints, and I have to have something very reliable.

BTW: just came up with a sorta fix.  Instead of setting an event for, say, Dec 30 with reminders along the way, I entered it as an event for July 30, then monthly repeating five times.  Not quite the right functionality, but workable for now.
