I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

(CFS) allow clustered servers to mount and use the same file system simultaneously. CVM makes logical volumes and raw device applications accessible throughout a cluster. So if you are adding CFS  to VCS configuration you need CVM and DG already setup in the VCS.

CFS file system can run in single instance mode or in a parallel access / cluster mode.  The parallel mode allows for multiple servers (also known as cluster nodes) to simultaneously access the same file system.  The CFS data changes are atomically seen by all cluster nodes simultaneously. Because CFS shares the same binaries and same on-disk layout as single instance CFS, moving between cluster and single instance mode is straightforward.
