How to add a hyperlink to wordpress widget title?

Hello Experts,

I am struggling to add a hyperlink to the title of the sidebar widgets in wordpress.

I have wordpress 4.2.3 installed. The plug-ins i tried were not compatible with this version of WP so they didn't work.

Is there any way to accomplish this?  I read many posts related to this but the information was very confusing. Most of the articles suggested code changes but they didn't mention what files to edit.

I am looking for a simple step-by-step approach to achieve this.

Your help is very much appreciated.

Thanks a lot

Best Regards
Raghav.

That depends on the widget, can you post a screenshot of what you see...?

Sometimes, when it's a text widget, you just use html code to create a clickable link.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

Please find attached screen shot of the widget. It is a part of the WP theme i am using.

Sorry, should've been more thorough, take a screenshot of the widget from within your administrative console of Wordpress, where you configure it.

In the mean time, here's a little guideline on how to make links in the text (and some other) widgets.

Can you not add a link when you click on edit next to where it says Twitter or LinkedIn or such??
RaghavIT SpecialistAuthor Commented:
I need to add a link to the widget title i.e. SOCIAL NETWORKING ICONS"

Zephyr ICTCloud ArchitectCommented:
Yes, I understand that, that's why I ask if you can click "edit" on the right side of the social networking icons, what do you see then?

See screenshot:

I can add urls for FB and Twitter.

These urls then gets attached to corresponding logos inside the widget.

The title link is below the Social Icon settings ... It says there "Title Link", you can put your link in that, select the two boxes and the title will be clickable ... And have a link.
RaghavIT SpecialistAuthor Commented:
Like i said, this plug-in i have installed for title links is not compatible with the version of WP i have.

This plug-in works up to ver. 3.8

Any other method to do this?

Raghav.

You could use the link I posted earlier to create text widgets, in this widgets you place html code, if you also want social icons you can upload pictures from your pc into Wordpress and again use html code to show them with a link behind it. It's explained in more detail here
RaghavIT SpecialistAuthor Commented:
Unfortunately these widgets are not text widgets.

Thanks for your help.

Yes, of course they are not, but you said that they are not compatible with your Wordpress version, the alternative is create your own social media icons using the text widgets of Wordpress. Otherwise you will need to adjust the code of the widget, but I cannot help you with that because I don't have access to it, I do not know how it is configured.

You can usually create these buttons directly in the social media site you require and place the result in a 'text' widget. You have to be signed in to your account to create the html code.

For example, here is the link on Twitter to create a button for a web site for Share a link, Follow, Hashtag and Mention : https://about.twitter.com/resources/buttons...

Here is one for Facebook
