Essentials 2012R2 and Office 365 integration - what does that mean

I don;'t want to run through the wizards on the essentials box because I'm afraid I'll break  something : )

But we have an Essentials 2012R2 domain with users using outlook and POP3 hosted outside.

We want to move to office 365 for the exchange server.

I've heard that essneitals works with office 365 but not sure what that means.

Any advice?

Thanks!

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

This should cover your question. The very first section is "why should I" for integrating Office 365 and gives a basic rundown of what features this lights up and the benefits vs managing O365 via the web interface.

Essentials is designed to work with Office 365.  The integration works extremely well.

The wizards are also designed to work and is the correct way of configuring essentials - In short, you are unlikely to break anything providing that you know what you're doing.

Before continuing with the wizards ideally you need to have a better understanding of how essentials works and how the wizards work.  This may be worth having a view (free MS course online):
