Using 2 ADSL connesctions

My brother has just moved to a house that was split into 2 flats and there is a phone line and ADSL connection to each flat. If he retains the lines and broadband accounts is there any way of combining them to increase his bandwidth?

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

the overall bandwidth will be double with to lines. make of 2 8 mb lines one 16 mb line. is not going to be easy, there are some products in the market but there very expensive.

best way is to use a router that has 2 wan ports. and can do load ballancing.

Thanks. Any suggestions of routers that will do balancing?

For consumers u usually recommend a Draytek Vigor dual WAN router.
Life won't be a breeze though, in some specific situations, connections don't work properly, because some internet protocols don't like it if you "ask" something on one line, and"reply" on the other line (which sometimes happens with load balancing).
In those cases, you have to know how to solve it (usually a rule in the router telling this and that needs to use one line only)
