Exchange 2013 default mailbox

I would like to enable the following please can someone advise if it is possible


Exchange 2013

15 Service Desk users (no personal mailboxes)
1 Service Desk Generic mailbox

I would like so when the above users open outlook the profile is auto configured with the service desk mailbox

I figure the appropriate mailbox permission inc send as will need setting for service desk staff, and the outlook auto config can be performed using prf files but I'm not sure of the exact detail

Because this is not the users Primary Mailbox and they also do NOT have a mailbox of their own, you will need to configure ALL of them manually. If the user had their own mailbox then all you need to do it provide Full Mailbox Access to the users and they would then just use their credentails to open the mailbox.

But because the users do not have their OWN mailbox you need to use the username and password of the Service Desk Mailbox respectively.

Once you have done this the user will be prompted when Outlook is open to type in the Service Desk Password.

So if I allowed the SD members to have a mailbox would this be then possible? We would need to ensure that the SD mailbox is the default (the send as default)

Yes then that would be fine. All you need to do is the following...
- give all of the Service Desk Members their own mailbox
- provide Full Access to the Service Desk Mailbox (also Send As if required)
- Setup a new profile for the Service Desk Mailbox
- Set that profile to the default

You will need to set this up manually (initally) but once it is configured it will open with the Service Desk mailbox everytime.
