SQL Test server

Hi Experts,

I have an older SQL test server with SQL2008 Standard version.
This was bought in the past.

My SQL production server is SQL2014.
I need some test DB´s on the test server but now it´s not possible because of the SQL differences 2014 and 2008, right ?

Is it possible to upgrade my SQL 2008 Standard version to a SQL2014 Developer version ?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

If the size of your databases is less than 10Gb then you can also use SQL 2014 Express...given the fact is for development you can easily get rid of old "historic" data...to match the allowed size

You can't do an in-place upgrade.  But you could backup the 2008 dbs, detach them, and uninstall 2008.  Then install 2014 and restore / attach the 2008 dbs to 2014.
