SQl Server 2005

Hi,

I need urgent help.  I have XP based machine running ACT by Sage on it. It has SQL server 2005 on it. I need to backup the Data base.
But there is no SQL server managment Studio Express on it. Please how I can backup Current Database without SQl server managment Studio express running on Machine.

Thanks
Asif

Hey you can backup your data base by following method

SQL Server Management Studio
Transact-SQL
PowerShell

as you told that sql server management studio not here so you can try to transact sql or poweshell script method
here is the way for transact sql method

USE AdventureWorks2012;
GO
BACKUP DATABASE AdventureWorks2012
TO DISK = 'Z:\SQLServerBackups\AdventureWorks2012.Bak'
   WITH FORMAT,
      MEDIANAME = 'Z_SQLServerBackups',
      NAME = 'Full Backup of AdventureWorks2012';

Open in new window

either you can also check out full process on the following link

Go to RUN and type SQLWB.exe. check if sql server management studio open or not. Some time someone delete it from start menu.

or you can take backup using SQLCMD

1. Open windows command prompt.
2. type SQLCMD -S <Servername> -U <username> -P <Password>  -Q "Backup database <databaseName> to disk ='<location\backupfilename.Bak' "

Just use ACT!'s inbuilt database backup. It is designed to backup a folder so don't put the backup in the same folder as the database, otherwise you will end up backing up backups.

Hi,

Thanks Lee Yes I realized that ACT has builtin facility to backup the database. I used this to backup the database.

Thanks
