Sharepoint Server 2012 Hide Document Library

Hello, I am running the 2012 version of Sharepoint. I am trying to hide a document library for all but a specific subset of users. I'm using a connected Active Directory domain for user management.

On the site in question I open up Site Contents > Document Library > Settings > Permissions for this document Library.

I remove permission inheritance. I remove all listed users and then add the three users I would like to have access to this document library.

I then created a dummy Active Directory account with no special permissions and logged in to the site to see if it has access to the documents. My dummy user can still open and see the library as well as download the documents. I want the library to be completely hidden or at the very least the documents not downloadable by users other than the ones I have specifically set.

The tutorial I followed to set this up was here https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/efc7415b-ec70-421e-899e-ff5938dcdaa7/how-to-hide-document-libraries-from-users-who-do-not-have-permission-to-access-the-library?forum=sharepointadminprevious

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Hello, I seemed to have figured it out on my own.

In case someone else has a similar issue here is what I did to fix it. Under the administrative back end under security there was a group entitled "Everyone" that had read permission across the entire site.

By deleting this item (which seemed to be overriding site specific settings) and adding "Everyone" individually to my sites as a "View Only" I was able to then do the steps referenced above to the library from individual users.
