Google Analytics

I have a form on a webpage and I want to use Google Analytics to track the Form Progression and completion.  I have the code implemented in both text Input and select fields.  The issue is, I'm not sure I am doing it right.  I have done multiple searches on the subject and every article says something different and they all seem to leave out key pieces of information.  Does anyone know of a resource that offers the correct, complete and definitive explanation / instructions on how to implement form tracking and google analytics?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Simo Ahava writes some really comprehensive overviews on integrating Analytics via Tag Manager. The two I'd recommend referencing are related to form engagement and form submission listeners.

GTM's debug feature helps you to see if the events you're expecting to fire, actually are firing into GA. This helps cut down on the mystery of whether you are doing it right or not.
