Fix AVI Video File

Hi there,

I have an AVI video file.

The file was deleted and some of its data on the drive was over-written.

I restored it using Recuva: https://www.piriform.com/recuva

However, since some of its data was overwritten, I am unable to read that file.

I tried to fix it with VLC without success.

I understand that some parts of that clip is expected to be gone.

I need a tool or method to recuperate the most of that video file and make it readable again.

Thanks for your help,
Rene

Hi Eirman,

Thanks for your prompt response.

I just tried it and I got the following:
-ERROR MESSAGE: Bad Frame Report from DivxRepair

I also tried with ffmpeg and I got the following output:
-ffmpeg.exe "1.AVI" copy "2.AVI"
-ERROR MESSAGE: Output file #0 does not contain any stream

Any new ideas?

Thanks,
Rene

Hi there,

I was able to make ffmpg work with the following command line:
ffmpeg -i "1.AVI" -vcodec copy -acodec copy "2.mp4"

Your comment lead me to find ffmpg.

Thanks
I never tried FFMPG.
Thanks for the tip.
