How can I make my input and select elements exactly the same height?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Your CSS should be in it's own file, outside of the HTML.

select {
    border:1px solid #ccc;
    height:16px;
}
input, select{
padding: 2px;
	color: #333;
	font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
	font-size: 15px;
	background: #fafafa;
	outline: 0;
        box-sizing: border-box;
       -moz-box-sizing: border-box;
       -webkit-box-sizing: border-box;
}

Justin Stear, your answer is useless to me.  I put the CSS in the same file as the HTML so it could be easily tested.  I don't want to have to have a separate rule for the select then for the input.  Have you tested the code you posted?  The result is horrible. Does anybody else have any ideas?
Justin StearCommented:
I looked at my code, not sure why height was in there.  Take out height within select, it should give you the proper height.
Justin StearCommented:
Yes, I did test this and it works as you asked, you wanted the same height for both.

select {
    border:1px solid #ccc;
}
input, select{
padding: 2px;
	color: #333;
	font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
	font-size: 15px;
	background: #fafafa;
	outline: 0;
        box-sizing: border-box;
       -moz-box-sizing: border-box;
       -webkit-box-sizing: border-box;
}
