Using git repositories within TFS

We currently have our java application in git repositories.  We use the Egit plugins provided by eclipse to integrate with those repositories.

Can anyone site any disadvantage to moving to git repositories within TFS?  Would any functionality be lost? Is there anywhere you could point me to for further research?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Do you mean "within" TFS or "to" TFS?  Many people prefer Git to Subversion or TFS.  TFS is a Microsoft product.  Git is a great open source product that is used with Java and Linux development.  I know some people like Microsoft.  But it is rare to move from Linux to Microsoft solutions.  I think it is easier to hire motivated employees for Linux/Git compared to Microsoft/TFS.

In my opinion, from a product selection perspective, the future for Linux/Git/open source is brighter than Microsoft solutions.  I would assume that Git has more flexibility and functionality than TFS.  Licensing costs of Git and the related technologies would likely be lower too.
