Access - rename column

Please offer if there is a straightforward way to rename the columns in an Access table.

The research I have done is complex, using Alter Table with Add and Drop of columns.

It is preferred if I can have a query statement that is a direct rename, i.e. ColumnA = ColumnA1, ColumnB = ColumnB1, etc.

Thank you.

In a query you can use SELECT NewName:[Column1], NextName:[Column1] FROM your tables...

Newname and NextName are the new aliases, whereas Column 1 and 2 are the actual names in Access.

the straightforward is Open table in design view and change the field/column name.

- another way is to create a Make table query specifying the new field/column name
run the make table query, then delete the old table and rename the newly created table
