How do I handle asp.Net GridView Column header click on Client Side?

Hi:

I have an asp.Net page which contains a asp.Net gridview control.

Currently sorting by clicking on the column headers works fine.

I would like to be able to change the behavior slightly.
I would like to handle the column header click on the client side (do to some additional processing through JavaScript)
before posting back to server side.

How do I do this?

Thanks,
JohnB

Hi
you can do it in two ways:

You can add onclick client side javascript function while gridview binding OR after page rendered, you can add onclick client side javascript function on page load for only header of gridview.

Solution 1:
in binding event of gridview, find specific header column and add click event like:

headerColumn.Attributes.Add("onclick", "JSFunctionName");

Solution 2:
On page load (in jQuery):

$(function(){
    $(<find gridview header columns>).each(function(){
        $(this).click(function(){
            alert('Clicked on gridview header name : ' + $(this).html());
            //Call your javascript function from here.
        });
    });
});

Hope this helps you.
