Windows 8.1 update

This started last week. Every update I get this error each time:

"We couldn't complete the updates. Undoing changes Don't turn off your computer"

It takes about 2 hours for the computer to come back to being ready.

In the windows logs I see several messages like this:

Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x800F0922: Update for Windows 8.1 for x64-based Systems (KB3035583).

Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x800F0922: Security Update for Windows 8.1 for x64-based Systems (KB3062760).

Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x800F0922: Security Update for Windows 8.1 for x64-based Systems (KB3069392).

And so on... About 50 to 75 different errors on each KB it tried to install.

It sounds like you have a corrupted update download.

Try the following:

Open an administrative command prompt by right-clicking the Start button and clicking on the Administrative Command Prompt option
On the Command Prompt, type “net stop wuauserv“ to stop the Windows Update service
Type “cd /d %windir%” or “cd\windows“
Type “rd /s SoftwareDistribution“
Restart the windows automatic update service again by typing “net start wuauserv“
Also try the Windows Update Readiness tool and the Update Troubleshooter to see if that clears out the problems.

Offline,

I tried yours first. I got an error indicating "The Windows update service is not started" then when I ran SoftwareDistribution I got another error saying the process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process. I then started the Windows update service.

Also, I then repeated your steps and this time the service stopped, SoftwareDistribution ran with no errors. It did not report anything back. I then started the service again.

I will reboot when I get home and see if that fixes it. I did this via teamviewer.
