Faxing without Phone Line

Is there a method to fax directly from a printer/multi-function device without a phone line?  I use an efax service typically, so I'm familiar with how to set that up but it requires a computer to send/receive the fax emails.  Ideally I'd like to be able to make this work via just an internet connection and a device, no computer required.  Is this possible?

Cheaper to get a phone line.
Where do you get phone service for less than $1/month?

I'll look into the MagicJacks.  The reason that a phone line isn't feasible is that I'm going to be using this in a temporary location that isn't presently wired and I'll only need the 'connection' for 1 month.
RingCentral as well, we use that internally sense fax over SIP sucks.

How would you use RingCentral with just a device?  I've used it on a cell phone for faxing, but that's it.
Scan to email, it will pickup the from and then handle it
