Pagination redirection issue with SellerDeck

Please look at my site www.sowter.co.uk.  Go to SHOP...pro Audio...Isolator balancers.  This brings up 14 products.  look at the pagination field:  Page:  1  2   >   >>   View All (14).

When you mouse over the "2" look at the destination URL at the bottom of the page.  A URL comes up as you mouse over but after about 1 second it changes.  The first one is correct but the second one is a broken link.

i have tested this on the SellerDeck site as well as my own but the problem is the same.  It is the same on all the browsers I have tried.  It happens the same on all categories/products on my site where there are more than 12 products per page.

Any idea what is happening?  Where does this "redirection" happen?

The Sellerdeck development team are working on it but they are overloaded at the moment so any clues would be very welcome.

I don't see the URL change

This is how the page renders
<a href="\Site1\SiteHTML\E_A_Sowter_Ltd_ISOLATOR_BALANCERS_2-p2.html">

The above link appears to have an extra \Site1\SiteHTML\ at the beginning. If you navigate to page 2 by changing the URL manually in the address bar and then look at the Page 1 URL you will see it is correct  i.e.
http://www.sowter.co.uk/acatalog/E_A_Sowter_Ltd_ISOLATOR_BALANCERS_2-p1.html

So I would look at what ever is rendering the first page - somewhere in there it is rendering out the wrong URL or is including some url prefix that is causing the problem

Hi Brian,

do you use Google Chrome?
The behavior of the url tooltip change is by design - only after 2 seconds the url is fully expanded - so that's just an UI thing. The first shortened url represents exactly the same url which will be displayed (and used as href) after 2 seconds - the first one having three dashes in the tooltip text.

Hi Julian
Does this mean the problem the problem has to be the javascript on my site and not anything to do with the browser or the host service provider?

Hi Rainer  I dont think it is anything to do with the tooltip providing a shortened URL to start with because the URL's are different. Also I ran a broken links program on the site and all the pagination links show up.

No - the page is rendering out like that. If it was javascript then the problem URL will show up in the console window but a view source on the page will show a different URL. If you do a view source on the page you will see the URL is incorrect which means it is rendering out like that - so you have to look on the server side.

How are your pages being rendered - what is your servers side process for serving pages?

Hi Julian

Line 343 onwards is
&nbsp;<a href="\Site1\SiteHTML\E_A_Sowter_Ltd_ISOLATOR_BALANCERS_2-p2.html"> > </a>
&nbsp;<a href="\Site1\SiteHTML\E_A_Sowter_Ltd_ISOLATOR_BALANCERS_2-p2.html"> >> </a>
&nbsp;<a href="E_A_Sowter_Ltd_ISOLATOR_BALANCERS_2.html"> View All (14) </a>

The URL,s with the SiteHTML bit are the broken links.  The View All(14) is ok.

Where did you see the good links?
Maybe the code produces the correct links first and then after a delay produces the bad ones?

On page 2
http://www.sowter.co.uk/acatalog/E_A_Sowter_Ltd_ISOLATOR_BALANCERS_2-p2.html
the link back to page 1 is
http://www.sowter.co.uk/acatalog/E_A_Sowter_Ltd_ISOLATOR_BALANCERS_2-p1.html
Which appears to be correct

The using chrome I right clicked and then view page source.  I the searched for >>. and this took me to line 347 which is a broken link.
line 351 is a good link.

I dont know anything about how my host renders pages but the SellerDeck test server which is a different provided does exactly the same.

I see the same thing but I cannot solve your problem for you by only looking at the result of what is sent to the browser.

The wrong URL is being created on the back end. If there is another party involved then it is best you contact them to find out why it is doing that.

I had a look at the video - what you are seeing in the URL "changing" is just the URL expanding to its full form. When you initially mouse over the link the url is coming up with \...\ in the middle indicating that it is being "shortened" - when you keep the mouse there it expands to its full form.

In essence though it is the same URL - which you can confirm by looking at the underlying source. The problem lies in when the page is generated - not when it is in the browser.

Thanks for your help.  I am not seeing the /.../ unless i shrink the screen.  I agree the code is bad and it is nothing to do with the server or local script running.  It has been very helpful to clarify my ideas so I know what questions to ask.  Hopefully SellerDeck will fix it soon.
