SSD moved from X220 to X230: brightness adjustment & SVGA redirect buttons not working on X230

I moved the SSD from my problematic X220 to a new X230 Lenovo laptop.
Had to change in the BIOS in X230 to "compatibility mode" (was AHCI in X220)
so as to be able to support the SSD, else the X230 will BSoD while booting up.

However 2 crucial buttons dont work anymore on the X230 (was working on the X220):

a) the SVGA redirect button (Fn-F7): when connected to an OHP, press Fn-F7 will give
an error (can't recall exactly what it is but I think it's sort of "Runtime..." error similar
to what's shown in attached ) & no output from the OHP

b) prior to & at the point McAfee encryption prompts for credentials, I could still dim
or brighten the display by Fn-F8 or Fn-F9 but after entering the credentials, the 2
Fn buttons will cease to work

Fn-F5 (Radio On/Off), Fn-F4 (think it's Sleep) & sound volume control buttons (reduce
& increase volume & Mute) still work though.

You need to install all the drivers and utilities of your PC. Download them from the lenovo site and then start with the chipset drivers, reboot and continue with the rest.

Though the hardware of these two machines looks identical from the first look, there are differences. This means you need to install the missing device drivers. Best if you first remove the existing drivers for the mentioned failing to work devices. And then install new ones.

Just download all the drivers which are the newest versions for your PC, then start with installing the chipset driver and reboot. Don't just get the one that "controls brightness...". The drivers depend on each other so all of them are important.

Also install the utilities, not just the drivers, as the utilities are usually used to to assigne the correct function keys of your PC to the correct actions, among other things.

Normally it would be best if you don't move disks between different PC's. first, if the license is OEM, that can be a grey zone in terms of licensing and is often not allowed. 2nd, you run into the issues you are having.

It is best to use the factory setup which came with your PC, then just remove what you don't need and install what you do need, then restore your data from the old PC to it. That would normally guarantee that things work the way they should.

There is a tool called Lenovo Driver Update Utility or something similar. It should do everything automatically.
