Identify emails

Hello,

Is there a way to validate email address?

The domain of the company is abcd.com, with an employee called John Doe, email address john_doe@abcd.com.

An email is sent from "John Doe", john_doe@abcde.com

The person receiving the email does not realize the slight difference in email address and follows the instructions enclosed in the email which is not a good thing.

Is there a way to filter emails so only authentic emails get through and not similar ones?

Thanks.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Unfortunately without using a strict white-listing policy not  possible.. i.e. send to junk all except on a white-list.

And if you implement such a system then you effectively stop everybody else on the planet from emailing you.
You couldn't implement a rule that says Let every new email address through unless its very similar to one I already know about.

Would you know how to define a rule where emails names match email address?

For instance, do not accept emails from John doe if domain is not equal to abcd.com

You would need a 3rd party product to do this and as you are using Office 365 I would have to defer to other experts who may know more on the subject but I dont think you can do so without.
