How to rename an IIS 8 application


I have an application in IIS 8. I want to rename this application. Right click on the application/Manage application\Advanced settings only shows the virtual path, but this is grey ans not adjustable. How do I change the name of my application.

Rather inconveniently there doesn’t seemed to be a way to rename your websites in the IIS Manager UI. Everywhere the “Site Name” appears its greyed out and unchangable; I guess Microsoft have their reasons.
