"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

What you need to do is create a new .PST file and move your emails from the old one to the new one.  The restriction is on the PST file in the version of Outlook it was created in, not the version of Outlook accessing it.

Older versions had the 1.9 GB limitation.  2010/2013 is 50 GB.  Once you create a new .PST file you'll be fine.

If I had to guess I'd say the PST file was originally created in Outlook 2000. That is where the 1.9 GB limit was.  Outlook 2003/2007 have a 20 GB limit.
