WordPress Testing

I need to make a change to a live WordPress site to "activate" one of the pages and add it back into the menu. Also add some links to the page.

I have done a bit of WordPress, but I have never been able to figure out a "test mode". That is, a way to make changes in a test mode & then test them before making them live.

Is there a way to do that in WordPress?

Thanks

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

There isn't a built-in staging environment in WordPress. Some hosts (ex. WPEngine) offer a staging environment and there are 3rd party services like Wordpress StageHost that provide this functionality.

Alternatively, you could build your own staging environment (ie. duplicate your site locally) then migrate your changes to the live site when you're happy with them. This is not quite as elegant as the 1-click options mentioned above.
