Widows and Orphans

Microsoft Word running under Wln7, the one that produces ".docx" documents.

How do I turn off Widows and Orphans. I've looked all over. Can't find it. Or do they call it something else now?

Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Are you running Office 2010 or 2013?

This should do the trick. Office/Word 2013 will likely be slightly different.

1. Open Word, click the Home tab so that it is the active tab in Word.
2. Click the small square with an arrow on the bottom right corner of the Paragraph group on the Ribbon to open the options dialog box.
3. When you click this icon the Paragraph dialog box will appear. Click the Line and Page Breaks tab.
4. In the Pagination section uncheck Widow/Orphan control.
Click OK to save the changes and close the Paragraph dialog box.
By unchecking this option you have turned off Widow/Orphan Control in Word 2010.

Thank you.

I moved from XP to Win7 and Win7 came with a new version of Office.
Word is now bewildering. Still getting used to it. Liked the old one much better.
By the way, There used to be an "About" up in the menu bar. Version could be found there.
I have no idea what version of Office I am now using.

Thank you again -- Norma
